The Katok Sixth Form Centre (PTEK) in Kg Katok, Gadong, yesterday opened its doors for registration and received about 530 new students enrolling for the lower sixth form new term 2012/2013.
In welcoming students and their parents to the school yesterday morning, the Principal of PTEK, Hjh Rosni binti Hj Mohd Amin @ Hjh Siti Nur’ain, in her speech said the centre is privileged to be equipped with modern teaching aids and facilities such as projectors, interactive boards, laptops and computers which are hoped to give a more effective, attractive and quality learning experience for the students. “With the availability of these facilities, students are advised to make use full of them,” she said.
In producing multi-talented students, she said the school, through the Ministry of Education (MoE) offers sports facilities to give opportunity to students in developing their own potential in sports. “Thus, it is compulsory for our students to partake in at least one of the many sports activities offered,” she added.
According to the school’s Deputy Academic Principal, Penroose Saleha Hj Mohd Salleh, this year’s intake number is down compared to previous years due to the even distribution among other sixth form centres in the Brunei-Muara District.
“A few of the students’ resident catchment areas have been re-organised to meet the demands and capacities of these sixth form centres in each of its respective catchment areas,” she said.
The event yesterday was mainly focused on registration and introductory briefings on the school’s infrastructure, system and roles for the students and their parents. Today, the students will begin their orientation programme, which will run until tomorrow.
