Proposed LRT in Brunei Darussalam- The Official Video Simulation

The above proposed LRT Plan is the governments initiative to innovate and develop the Master Plan in Brunei Darussalam to achieve the national vision of 2035.

“The Objectives of the Master Plan are three-fold:
* To maintain the status of Bandar Seri Begawan as one of the top ten most livable cities in Asia (The Asia Week, 1996-1999)
* To ensure orderly development so as to make Bandar Seri Begawan a safe, friendly and livable place
* To craft immediate, medium and long-term development policies and strategies for Bandar Seri Begawan until the year 2035 and beyond”

If one still does not understand what the National Vision of 2035 is and what it can do to our nation then perhaps the pictures below will give you an Idea.

From this housing scarps and dirty waters

into a modern urban landscape

At least that is what the planners have planned. But in my case we want to see more than this.

Like Dubai from a desert landscape

into this; a world class economy

Tune in to find more about what the National Vision of 2035 really is.

  1. Hi, i’m just saying what i thought about this proposal and no offense.

Brunei is just a small country. I travel from Brunei-Muara District to Belait District every once a month. For me, driving to Bellait District is a pleasure. In my opinion, I personally don’t think that LRT is needed in this sultanate. Driving is a pleasure for me. Sometimes, I can relax my mind by travelling to Belait District. In fact, I can reach Belait District not more than one hour.

On the contrary, for some people who was working in Belait District and they live in Brunei-Muara District, perhaps LRT is a convenient way to travel because of the short time duration.

    Thabk you

  2. Thanks for the thought. I also do think that that the LRT is a brainers solutions to make life more convineient however we must also think on the long term on the image which we want to send out to the world out there.

Its like Mark and Spenser. The reason why they charge their products at a premium is because of their branding positioning and packaging.

Brunei is the same here. The LRT is the packaging which will help Brunei in positioning herself into a “futuristic” look lest we are left behind by other emerging countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.

FDI(Foriegn Direct Investment) is important to an emerging economy. With this LRT we can show the world that we are developing. Though its a slow rate but then it serves its purpose. Correct me if I am wrong.
